Random thoughts on a Wednesday.
Is this #adulting?
Today I went to the bank to pay for our safety deposit box and put a copy of my sister-in-law’s health care proxy statement in there. I want it in the box because I know that most of my important papers are kept there now.
As I signed in, I realized I hadn’t opened the box since 2019 (ages ago! BC, or before COVID).
While the very nice teller photocopied the form–as I realized that, Murphy’s Law being what it is, we would likely need the form at the beginning of a long weekend–I “visited with” my important papers. Wedding license, birth certificate, social security card: all safely and responsibly housed at the bank, instead of the top drawer of my desk.
Is this being a full grown-up? Or does this just make me old-fashioned, since I don’t have everything uploaded to the cloud?
To look or not to look?
On my way to the bank, I parked near a house I have had my eye on for a while.
I don’t find it particularly attractive. But it is within easy walking distance to the business center of town: library, bank, post office, drug store. Lots of restaurants. All the good stuff. Also, it looks to be mostly on 1 floor.
Really, I have it mind for my old-person home, for when our mobility is not as good as it is now.
There are signs all over: For Sale by Owner.
I have taken down the number to discuss with Mr. PiN, but took the time to look more closely at the house. Of course, it needs plenty of work, which I knew when I started thinking about it as our (potential) next home. The neighbor’s driveway is very close to the back door. It’s on a corner near the shopping area, with lots of strangers parking in front. I don’t see much yard.
All of the features I originally thought of as positives now look a lot less attractive.
I wonder how much of it has to do with the fact that I don’t want to feel old yet? Surely I am not ancient enough to move into my older-self home?
What have I done?
Yesterday, Mr. PiN forgot some very tasty coupons when he met a friend for lunch and went shopping at Whole Paycheck.
He really isn’t very good at remembering coupons.
But, when I came home and showed him the coupons on the living room table, he surprised me.
While cooking dinner, he called the store–they said that if he brought them in with his receipt for the day, they would honor them!
But that’s not the real shocker. He actually drove back to the store and got the money back!
Sweetheart, what have I done to you?
What’s new with you?
