Fitness Log #203 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I started settling in to a schedule without hospital work (I will return to the hospital this fall, I’m not yet done). But between catching up, and having to do homework for one of the classes I was teaching, I haven’t been able to enjoy my down time very much. This week I finally felt like I had some time to think about things other than work.
  2. Mr. PiN and I took an evening walk together, for the first time in a long time (maybe years). It was lovely.
Shore at low tide with 2 boats on the beach.
Like those abandoned boats, I get a little time to rest before the tide pulls me out again.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I invited a friend to do something; usually we walk, but today we sat on the porch and gabbed. I did go for a walk later, 35 minutes.
  • Sunday:  Lots of work, no exercise today.
  • Monday: I rescheduled my training session, as I had a headache I couldn’t shake. No exercise.
  • Tuesday: I walked part-way home. Either I am walking faster, or my husband is picking me up closer to work. 16 minutes.
  • Wednesday: I took a 40 minute walk before breakfast today. My training session was rescheduled for this afternoon; 30 minutes of strength training.
  • Thursday: A lighter day at work, and yet, a moderately stressful one. I was glad to take a walk before dinner to wind down. 20 minutes.
  • Friday: After a light but irritating work day, I took an evening walk with Mr. PiN. 42 minutes.

Total: 153 minutes walking, no tennis (my teacher is away), and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 183 minutes. I did very well on time, but most certainly was concentrating on it at the end of the week.
