Fitness Log #204 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts (or, first-in-a-whiles):

  1. I read a new book over the weekend. I used to do that a lot, but I haven’t felt free to enjoy such a treat for a while.
  2. Mr. PiN proposed going out to the museum for our anniversary. It was very exciting to go somewhere other than work.

If I did this every day, I would probably be much happier.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  Mr. PiN and I took a short walk before dinner. 14 minutes.
  • Sunday:  The weather was not great, and I was tired after staying up late. No exercise.
  • Monday: A walk to and from the museum (not counting museum walking). 40 minutes.
  • Tuesday: Walked partway home from work, 22 minutes.
  • Wednesday: Took a longer walk to warm up for my training session, 45 minutes. Then my 30 minute training session. (I am calculating if I have hit my 150 minutes yet. I just did! Everything else this week is gravy.)
  • Thursday: No exercise today. Which was fine, because I was a little stiff from the day before.
  • Friday: A slow walk with Mr. PiN, who had leg cramps after playing tennis (with someone other than me). The walk that usually takes 19 minutes took 22–which is fine, at least we were out moving.

Total: 143 minutes walking, no tennis, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 176 minutes.
