Fitness Log #229

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I bribed myself to complete my notes one day by ordering a new book (definitely not a frugal move, but it got me to finish up)..
A farm house, with dull green grass and leafless trees. A fence is in the foreground, separating the viewer from the house. A shed sits by a large tree on the right.
When? When will Spring come to our town?

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  A day at home, no exercise.
  • Sunday:  After several days indoors with no exercise, I made myself go out despite the weather. I felt much better after my 31 minute walk. I even did my PT exercises in the evening (4 minutes).
  • Monday: A walk part-way home (20 minutes) and a workout with my trainer (30 minutes).
  • Tuesday: Traffic was better, and Mr. PiN picked me up directly from the hospital. I was super grumpy and did not do any exercise today (I’m thinking there is a chicken-egg situation here).
  • Wednesday: A tennis lesson, 60 minutes.
  • Thursday: A walk part-way home, 20 minutes. The only reason I got to my PT exercises was the knowledge that today was the last chance I had to hit my 3 per week target; but I got it done.
  • Friday: It was not a good day for exercise, but after dinner–actually, quite late in my evening–I did my PT exercises to meet my goal of doing them 3 times a week.

Total: 71 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 60 minutes of tennis, made a total of 161 minutes of exercise; goal achieved! This doesn’t even include my (estimated) 12 minutes of PT exercises, as I hit my goal of 3 times a week. A successful week.
