I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Fabulousness
- The days are finally so long I can’t ignore it. I love (sometimes) being woken up before my alarm by sunshine coming through my windows. And it’s fun, if disconcerting, to have bright sun visible during our late dinners.
- In preparation for some work around the house, we cleared up most of the rooms around the house. All the stuff lined up against the walls has been moved: either cleared, or re-homed. I love the look.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: A morning walk before the weather warmed up too much, 20 minutes. I was still bushed from the day before.
- Sunday: Most of the day was spent indoors, tidying up before having people come in to work in the house (they have to be able to get to the job, after all). An evening walk for 20 minutes.
- Monday: Finally, a work out with my trainer again. 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: We were having some air quality alerts today, I did no walking outside (or any other exercise).
- Wednesday: Despite the continued air quality alerts, I did attend my tennis lesson (outside). It was a lower intensity lesson, but I made it through the full hour.
- Thursday: The air quality was still bad, no exercise.
- Friday: No exercise today either. I was pretty grumpy about that (and the fact that I had a ton of work to finish before the weekend–not all completed).
Total: 40 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 60 minutes of tennis. Only 130 minutes of exercise. I note poor air quality as the excuse, but it is also true that I could have found another way to exercise indoors (I just don’t like to). That’s something to work on, I suppose.
