I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Fabulousness
- When I was at my mom’s house and she started making noises about my clearing all the rest of my stuff out, I wondered where my childhood piggy bank had gone (had I given it away? Stored it somewhere else in the house?). I was excited to find it in my own house this week, safely transported with my favorite books from childhood. The piggy bank is on display, I need to find shelf space for those treasured books.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do in my first week after a hospital rotation?
- Saturday: Work, work, work–no exercise for me today.
- Sunday: A late afternoon walk, 30 minutes.
- Monday: A mid-day walk back from the shopping area, 26 minutes. I was very tired. My trainer is off, so no training today.
- Tuesday-Friday: it was hot, humid, with bad air quality. And I didn’t feel great. I did pretty much no exercise and only feel a teeny bit bad about it.
Total: I was exhausted and having some lung issues, and only exercised 56 minutes the whole week. I am sad I didn’t feel up to working out, but not sad that I didn’t push myself when I felt so awful. Hopefully next week I will feel better.
