Fitness Log #256 And Friday Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts: none noted. Maybe I need to pay more attention to this stuff.

Fabulousness

  1. I enjoyed a long afternoon of tea and cookies with my doctor friend. All gab, no MKSAP.
  2. I got to cheer on runners in the road race that goes (almost) right by my house. The people at the front didn’t seem to notice, but the ones near the end really appreciated that people were still out there for them.
  3. I had been putting off buying airplane tickets to a meeting, and the day I decided it was definitely time to purchase them–there was a sale! Several hundred dollars saved, with no effort on my part.

The race was a little more crowded than this.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  The plan was to be dropped off near the bakery and walk home. In actual fact, it was cold and rainy, and my friend who lives near the bakery invited me over. I made a short walk–hardly worth mentioning–and brought treats to share with my friend while we gabbed most of the afternoon.
  • Sunday:  I cheered on runners passing by my neighborhood. I was clapping for about 20 minutes, but got no real exercise.
  • Monday: No exercise today either.
  • Tuesday: Mr. PiN was AWOL for the afternoon, and I ended up walking all the way home. 45 minutes.
  • Wednesday: A tennis lesson today, 60 minutes.
  • Thursday: A tiring day at the office with bad weather at the end of it. I got a ride home, no exercise.
  • Friday: Another long day, but better walking weather. I took a 20 minute walk before dinner.

Total: 65 minutes of walking and 60 minutes of tennis. I didn’t quite meet my 150 minute target, though I wasn’t a total couch potato all week.

How was your week?

    1. One could say that I am too easy on myself, but I find that even when I miss my exercise goals, most weeks I get more exercise than I used to without the goals.

Hopefully you will be able to get away from your desk a little more next week.
