A Short Respite

The past week has been unexpectedly busy.

In my professional life, I was trying to keep up with work while also clearing away all those little tasks I kept putting off “til tomorrow.” I like to leave as little work as possible for my partners to deal with, if possible, when I sign out my in-box.

That’s usually more than enough to put me at wit’s end; however, my father-in-law got in on the act.

Mr. PiN has been zipping around town, going between one place and the other, as it has finally become clear that his father cannot continue in his current residence and needs to move, as we medical people like to say, to a higher level of care.

Mr. PiN been calling facilities, touring them, talking with administrators and head nurses; searching through papers to find insurance info; packing up pajamas and socks and daily meds. Basically, he has been running himself ragged, while making arrangements to keep his dad safe.

He won’t be able to stay with me through my meeting, but we have been SO happy to get away for our 2 day beach trip to the Space Coast (near Cape Canaveral). The plane may have been delayed, the weather cold and rainy, but running away from home (and errands, and house work) has finally given us both a chance to take a huge breath and start to unwind.

I was hoping for weather like this, but, alas, it was not to be.

We’ll see if a little time away gives me a second wind for my blogging. If not, dear Readers, stay well. I’ll be back when I can.
