An Object At Rest

Newton’s First Law can be stated as: an object at rest will stay at rest until force is applied.

I.e. inertia is a thing.

I pretty much put my life on hold the past few months to prepare for my boards, and I am having a hard time returning to my old habits.

I have been conditioned to put my computer on my lap and work (work-work, or surfing the web for a short break), even though I am no longer studying MKSAP online. (To be fair, I am still catching up on some work projects that were put on hold while I studied).

A woman in a dress raking hay, with more laborers in the background.
Sometimes the work just needs to get done.

I find that many things I had enjoyed doing–or at least, enjoyed having done–are now a struggle to get started with: blogging, attending services, reading, knitting, decluttering.

I suppose it’s time to apply a little more force to my life, to get back in the groove with these activities.

In order to get back to posting something every Monday, I may reduce some of the friction by giving myself permission to publish shorter posts about some more random thoughts. We’ll see if this works.
