Happy Blogiversary To Me, 2025

On October 1, 2018, I published my first “real” post on this blog, making this my blog’s 7th birthday.

Happy Blogiversary to me!

Today seems like a good time to reflect on this last year of blogging.

Life continues to offer challenges, as life does.

Despite that, and skipping some weeks, I have mostly managed to post twice a week. I have 106 posts for the year that started with my 6th blogiversary post.

Monday posts tend to be more about finance, though not always. This year I dithered about whether I am financially independent, decided to keep working for at least one more year, considered spending a bit more of my salary, and then worried a lot about it. I haven’t quite figured that all out yet.

With my comfortable financial situation, I did cut back my hours in a significant way. I no longer go into the office on Mondays (hospital weeks excepted), so although I still end up doing some work, I have a whole extra day per week to try out life after retirement. I have been documenting them in my Wednesday W posts; so far, I see lots of work and medical visits, which isn’t quite what I was looking forward to.

I’ve done better with my Friday fitness logs, which I meant to chronicle how hard it can be for a working person to meet their exercise goals, and perhaps to encourage me to do better about meeting mine. They seem to exert some fascination for others as well.

I have kept up with the monthly Favorite Posts, highlighting some of my favorites posts of the month. I was flattered to see that I inspired Dr. Slater at Business is the Best Medicine to do something similar. It makes me feel like I am engaged in a conversation with other bloggers.

Speaking of conversations, I am super appreciative of those of you leaving comments on my posts, especially Michelle of Boomer Eco Crusader and Second Life Vision, Budget Life List (whose blog is no longer active), and C. It really does make my day to see that someone else is reading my words and saying hello.

What will the coming year look like? I have no idea.

This blog has seen me through paying off my house, paying off the car, the passing of 1 parent and 2 parents-in-law, a pandemic, and now cutting back my hours significantly.

I’m hoping to blog more about preparing for life after work, while still appreciating the work I do now; preferably while working on my fitness and finding happiness whether I work or not.

I’m feeling pretty good about my blog today.

Thank you for following along with me on my blogging journey while I figure things out.
