I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 8 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
Mr. PiN needed to get something our local Home Depot did not have in stock. We took a trip to a far away suburb, I don’t think I had been through that shopping area before.
Later in the week, I reported for jury duty for the first time in my current town.
Fabulousness
I had a fabulous time at a Barnes and Noble, snacking and reading, while Mr. PiN was off shopping at Home Depot.
Mr. PiN actually sold his parents’ house. He no longer is responsible for 2 houses, and can maybe spend more time at our house. Fabulous!
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?

- Saturday: My trainer had to call off, I ended up doing no exercise.
- Sunday: I had to finish a ton of office notes, no time to exercise.
- Monday: No exercise today either.
- Tuesday: A walk to my pick up point after work, 18 minutes.
- Wednesday: I had to miss my tennis lesson because I had to report for jury duty. I was able to walk laps in the courthouse for 20 minutes in the morning and another 20 in the afternoon. Plus I walked downtown and picked up lunch, 18 minutes, per Google maps.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point, 18 minutes.
- Friday: A walk after work, 21 minutes.
Total: No tennis or workouts with my trainer, just walking, for a total of 115 minutes. Really, if I hadn’t been such a slug for half the week, I would have been fine. As it is, I had a good reason not to exercise.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): I hit my goal only once in 4 weeks, though I did get close-ish for 2 of the other weeks..
- Clutter goals: It wasn’t on my list, but I did clear through half a small box of old papers. Go me. Also, Mr. PiN has started clearing out some of his things, now he is done with his parents’ house; he has a large pile of books he is willing to part with!
- Local Adventures. We went out for our anniversary, and then the next week to the suburban Home Depot (well, really, the nearby bookstore).
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month and/or attending services). I played tennis with my fellow student, twice in one weekend. Otherwise, socializing has been a bit tough, what with my retired friend away for her own trip.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
