Fitness Log #397, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

Because it was a free perk, I sat for an hour in a Minute Suites at the airport on the way home. I had a clean, quiet, well air-conditioned space to check in at work; while Mr. PiN got to lie down and take a nap. It was pretty sweet.

Fabulousness

I very much enjoyed my last few days visiting my sister: no schedule except being told when to come to dinner. The time was just about relaxing, visiting, window shopping. One afternoon I spent with a book in a hammock, and I even took a short hike before I had to leave town. It was fabulous.

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

A watercolor of a man lying in a hammock with a book, as seen from a porch. Palm trees and water (a river?) are in the background.
My hammock and view was a bit different; but the same in principle.
  • Saturday:  Just a walk around town today. I have no idea how much to count window shopping, if at all.
  • Sunday:  Mr. PiN and I took a short hike on a trail system outside our vacation rental. I didn’t time it carefully, but we were out for at least 30 minutes (probably a little longer).
  • Monday: A travel day. I am sure I did some walking, but have no idea how to measure it.
  • Tuesday: A walk to pick up point after work, 18 minutes.
  • Wednesday: My first tennis lesson in 1 and 1/2 months: 60 rusty minutes. I had to go into work as well, and so walked another 18 minutes to my pick up point in the evening
  • Thursday: A walk to my pick up point, 18 minutes.
  • Friday: A walk after work in the neighborhood, 20 minutes (my first neighborhood walk in several weeks!).

Total: 104 minutes of walking/hiking and 60 minutes of tennis, for a total of 164 minutes of exercise. I made my goal!

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
