Mr. PiN and I love to travel. Even after discovering FIRE (or, at least, the concept of cutting costs and saving more, to be able to leave paid work early), we traveled.
However, our last trip abroad was in 2018. We were getting close to paying off the mortgage, and we agreed to cut back on travel for a year to finish the job. 2020 was to be the year that we started traveling again; we all know how that turned out.
We have recently returned from our first trip out of the country since the pandemic started, and I thought I would share a few reflections.

They point out, absolutely correctly, that freeing up several hours a day to pursue other activities can improve productivity. The 3 to 4 hours a day that Americans watch television could translate into: time spent on hobbies, playing with children, finishing off chores, earning money through a side gig.

Continue reading “Fitness Log #208 And Friday Firsts”I started this series of posts at the end of October 2018. I had just cut back my hours, and wanted to use my new free time wisely. Some of that time was to relax, but I also wanted to improve my fitness, make my home a more pleasant place to stay, and work on becoming a more well-rounded human being.
Over time, I also been thinking about these projects as preparing for retirement life, though that might be years away. Building a better life now, and getting ready for a life without scheduled work, seem worthy of my attention and efforts now.
My last update was in June 2022, after a 6-month gap; I am hoping that more frequent updates will keep me on track.
