On October 1, 2018, I posted my first “real” blog post, and now, suddenly, it’s 3 years later. I thought it was time to throw myself a little blogiversary party. Or at least celebrate it on the blog.

Money Melange, Funny Money Posts
Personal finance posts can sometimes be awfully earnest and dry. Sometimes, a spoonful of sugar (or a good laugh) makes the medicine go down.
Channeling another Julie Andrews character, here are a few of my favorite things posts from the last year or so. The ones that made me smile.

Monday Melange, Marital Missives
In May, I published a round up post of some of the links I have sent to Mr. PiN in the last year. I was pretty surprised at the number, and decided to split the list into 2 posts.
Many of the subjects are similar to what I write about on the blog, so I hope that you might find this collection interesting.

Monday Melange. Money Is For Spending, Too
Before I leave on a vacation, I always try to tidy up the house: clear the desk, put everything away, empty the fridge of food that won’t be good by the time we return. This makes coming back to regular life slightly less painful. This time, I also put together a round up post, to share some blog posts that spoke to me over the past few months.
I didn’t have much of a budget for this vacation–after over a year at home, I sort of didn’t care what it cost. Sometimes it is time to loosen the purse strings, and for the PiN household, this was that time; though I still like to get a good deal if that is possible. A number of the posts below reflect that mindset.

Lately, the PiN household has joined the modern, electronically connected world. By that, I mean, I have started forwarding articles to Mr. PiN that I think he would enjoy. Or that I want him to do something about.
I thought I might share some of the articles that I thought interesting enough to forward. After going through all the links, I will concentrate on the personal finance and travel-related articles I sent in the past year.

A few weeks ago, one of my patients who is also a doctor came in for a physical. As I was asking about drinking (drinking has gone up quite a bit during the pandemic), he said something I found quite interesting: At the end of this pandemic, people are either going to be a lot healthier [exercising more and eating better] or much unhealthier [substance use and exercising less]. He is totally right.
One year ago, I returned to the office after a meeting (one I attended remotely because of concerns about this new virus out of Wuhan) to a new hospital, one preparing for an onslaught of very ill people with a disease we might catch and die from. Stay at home orders had been issued. It was the real beginning of the pandemic for me.
I did a little more drinking last Spring, to be sure, but as I spent more time at home, I looked around and decided it was really time to deal with the messes I had been ignoring as I rushed to work each day.

I had planned to write a new post for today, after a weekend (or 3/4 of one) off work. It was going to be all about designing a life with more balance, making time to take care of myself.
And then I realized that writing the post was stressing me out and keeping me from rest and relaxation.
So, that post will show up later.

I had a lovely day and a half, sleeping in, reading a book for fun, socializing (via video) with friends. Mr. PiN and I exchanged cards for Valentine’s Day, and he may have given me some traditional holiday offerings. We enjoyed a movie at home.
I hope you had a lovely weekend yourself.
Still Working
The hospital is still busy, no new post today.
Here’s a memory from a few years ago–much nicer than my current daily views.

If You Are Reading This
…then work got too busy to finish the post for today.

Hopefully I will be able to get on track with blogging soon.
100 Blog Posts, Take Three
I slowed down my writing in 2020–I can’t imagine what could have distracted me–but, still, here we are. Since March 2020, I have published another 100 blog posts.
Previously, I had used the century mark as a point to go through all prior 100 posts. I thought I might do something different, and go through the top 3 posts (as decided by me) in different categories.
