Fitness Log #80 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

During this pandemic, though, things change so rapidly, I want to acknowledge some of the ways we are coping with it. I am keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friday Firsts

This week had a number of firsts:

  1. Sunday, I figured out how to play Youtube videos on my TV.
  2. Then did Yoga with Adriene for the first time.
  3. I did yoga with my husband (who has pooh-poohed yoga) for the first time. He thought it was a worthwhile workout (and then wanted to do more).
This was not what I saw on my walks.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I get at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  In the late afternoon, I took a nice long walk. 59 minutes.
  • Sunday:  I took a long walk to the “local” bakery and back, 63 minutes. Then yoga on Youtube with my spouse for 16 minutes.
  • Monday:  I got a lift home from work, but asked to be let off in a slightly different area of the neighborhood. I got to see different scenery, as I walked home. 42 minutes walking. My husband was willing and interested to do a short yoga video before dinner, so we did one for 10 minutes.
  • Tuesday:  I sat all day doing telemedicine, then attended a (live) Zoom yoga class. I was awfully stiff, but I got through the class. 80 minutes.
  • Wednesday: After last night’s class, I was so exhausted, I thought today would be a rest day. However, it was a beautiful day and the outdoors beckoned. I took a walk (and listened to podcasts) for 56 minutes. I thought I was done for the day, but my husband wanted to do another yoga video (!!). We followed along to a 15 minutes workout.
  • Thursday: A nearly full day of telemedicine from home left me pretty stiff. It turns out my comfy chair isn’t quite as comfy if you are in it all day. My husband persuaded me to do another yoga video with him. 10 minutes.
  • Friday: After another full day in front of the computer, I took an afternoon walk. 23 minutes loosened me up a little. No yoga, my husband needed a break.

Total: 243 minutes walking and 131 minutes yoga, which I will count as weight training. I blew my goals out of the water, and maybe wore myself out. I am pretty sure next week won’t be as successful.
