Fitness Log #97 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

During this pandemic, though, things change so rapidly, I want to acknowledge some of the ways we are coping with it. I am keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I have returned to the hospital floors, and we now have a policy of asking patients to mask when staff come in the room. I have never before had to ask a hospital patient to mask up for routine visits; I am not yet very good at it.
  2. One of my patients is actually in the hospital for COVID-19. They are older with some co-morbidities, so I am pretty worried about them. I will review a few headlines of 100+ year old people surviving the disease, as a reminder that many people still survive it, even if they have to be hospitalized.
  3. In happier news, one of my posts was featured on Personal Finance Blogs. It was a total surprise, I feel like my fairy blog-mother (or blog-father) swooped in and waved their magic wand.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.

How did I do? Quite poorly.

Yes, it was a very bad week for exercise.
  • Saturday:  Nothing today.
  • Sunday:  After work, my husband dropped me off about a mile from home and I walked back. 21 minutes walking.
  • Monday:  On call again, no walking for me.
  • Tuesday:  I was exhausted after work, and came home well after the Zoom yoga class finished, but (nearly) ran out the door today after getting home to get a walk in, before I gave up on it. 22 minutes walking outdoors today.
  • Wednesday: My office was freezing today, enough that I felt unwell and went home early. I think rest and tea is the order of the day.
  • Thursday: I walked part-way home today, 25 minutes. I was home early enough that, if had actually scheduled a session, I could have seen my trainer. Since I didn’t want to cancel on her, that meant I just had an evening at home. Work, mostly.
  • Friday: Too tired to walk home, I ended up doing no exercise today.

Total: 68 minutes walking, no minutes weight training and no minutes yoga. A very sad showing.
