Fitness Log #102 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I led my first medical school small group over the Internet. That was interesting, and actually pretty fun.
  2. I ran into my college friend and her mom (who is a lovely person) while taking my usual walk. This was a wonderful surprise.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  Took an afternoon walk, 23 minutes.
  • Sunday:  On today’s walk, I ran into my friend and her mom. We had a socially distanced stroll for a long block, before we parted ways. My Fitbit registered 42 minutes (on a walk that usually takes me less time).
  • Monday:  Walked after work, 32 minutes.
  • Tuesday:  Yoga class is on hiatus this week. I walked after work, 39 minutes.
  • Wednesday: Walked after work. 37 minutes.
  • Thursday: My trainer had to bow out of our meeting, so no strength training meeting today. I walked part-way home, 28 minutes.
  • Friday: A lunch time walk, 21 minutes. I went out again for a slow walk after work, 18 minutes. Total today was 39 minutes.

Total: 240 minutes walking, no weight training and no yoga this week. I did work on stretching out my injury; the stretching has been painful, but, I think, effective. Though I am sad to have missed out on both of my internet sessions this week, I did find that pushing to get more walking made me feel better. We will see how next week goes, when I should participate in yoga class and my training session.
