Fitness Log #106 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. Gave my first talk over Zoom. OMG, the slides! And not being able to see the audience reaction!
  2. Signed up at Chess.com to be able to play chess online with my nephew.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise during a regular week. If I am working in the hospital, I will relax my goal to 90 minutes for the week. At least 60 minutes of my exercise in a normal week should help with strength training; right now, I count yoga as part of this category.

How did I do?

My nephew and I have a slightly different set-up. 🙂
  • Saturday:  I got a lift in the afternoon to the bakery, and walked home. My Fitbit is still not working, and I forgot to turn on my timer for a few minutes. But I will count the walk as 37 minutes.
  • Sunday:  I took a short, 20 minute walk in the afternoon.
  • Monday:  This was a planned rest day. No exercise.
  • Tuesday:  Zoom yoga after work, 80 minutes.
  • Wednesday: Walk after work. My timer says I walked for 39 minutes, but since it’s not my Fitbit, it doesn’t realized I stopped to talk with some former neighbors. I will count my walk as 34 minutes long.
  • Thursday: A long stressful day, but I made it to my (video) appointment with my trainer. She is giving me homework for the upcoming weeks, since I will likely not be able to get home in time for our sessions. 30 minutes.
  • Friday: A 20-minute walk at lunch, with s top to put more books in the nearest Little Free Library. I was finally able to part with Marie Kondo’s The Life-changing magic of tidying up. I wonder how long it will stay in the LFL? I took another walk after work, swinging by the LFL; my books were still there. My second walk lasted 38 minutes.

Total: 149 minutes walking, 30 minutes weight training and 80 minutes yoga this week, for a total of 259 minutes of exercise this week. I would say this was a winning week.
