Fitness Log #121 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. My parents received their second COVID vaccine. Not a first, but they are that much closer to being (mostly) protected from severe illness.
  2. I was offered a small supervisory role at work. I have seen a number of other, younger faculty offered more exciting (that is to say, more onerous) supervisory roles, and wasn’t sure if I was jealous or not. I will say that it was nice to be asked.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal while working in the hospital is to get at least 90 minutes of exercise. This is much less than my goals for non-hospital weeks, but recognizes that my hours are longer.

How did I do?

Very poorly. I worked super long hours and had no time or energy to exercise all week long. Wednesday, Mr. PiN lured me downstairs for a few (unmeasured) minutes of indoor tennis practice. I tired out easily. And that’s pretty much it.

All in all, this was a very bad week for me. I felt it too–stiff, achy, cranky, tired.

Hopefully I can redeem myself next week.
