Fitness Log #132 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 2 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. After long consideration, I set up a Patreon account and decided to support 2 authors. We will see how I feel about this new recurrent charge in a few months.
  2. I bought lunch out at my “local” bakery on Friday. It was definitely a treat, though I am not sure that the food was so great that I would do it again. Of course, I also bought sweet treats (not a first).
Yes, sometimes you need a rest day.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I took an afternoon walk, meeting up with a friend and running some errands (including picking up some DVDs through the local Buy Nothing Group). My Fitbit won’t talk to my phone, and I forgot to turn off my timer for the walk while I gabbed with my friend on my porch. I am totally guessing when I say I walked for 38 minutes.
  • Sunday:  Another afternoon walk, 35 minutes.
  • Monday:  My training sessions have been moved to Mondays. 30 minutes of strength training today, with new and different exercises.
  • Tuesday: A bunch of malarkey at work meant I missed my Zoom yoga class today. Later in the evening, Mr. PiN and I walked in the neighborhood, 38 minutes.
  • Wednesday: This was a light day, but I had to catch up on plenty of stuff. I figured a rest day wasn’t such a bad idea.
  • Thursday: Work ran long with an eager student. Also I didn’t have a training session to encourage me to get out quickly. No exercise.
  • Friday: A mid-day walk on a day off. 45 minutes spent looking through Little Free Libraries and going to the bakery. I bought lunch there. I considered doing more in the late afternoon, but didn’t really feel like exercising more just to make a number target.

Total: 156minutes walking, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 186 minutes. I did not hit my goal, though had I made it to yoga class, it would have been easier. Nevertheless, I got about 5 times more exercise this week than last week, which I am happy about.
