Fitness Log #138 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 2 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. For the first time since the pandemic, we had friends over for dinner. Inside our house, no masks. It was exciting, a little tiring, and very very nice.
  2. I found out that peonies can have a totally disgusting smell. I cut some for an arrangement, and spent 20 minutes wondering where the ammonia smell was coming from. Ugh.
Peonies are strictly outdoors flowers from now on.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  Played tennis again with Mr. PiN, 33 minutes. I knocked myself out for the rest of the day.
  • Sunday:  Back to the tennis courts, I played for 48 minutes, with a few rest breaks.
  • Monday: Mr. PiN wanted to go to the tennis courts again; we went, and had a great time. Also, we had a military plane fly low overhead (Memorial Day). 41 minutes playing tennis.
  • Tuesday: I apparently did something bad over the weekend (I choose to blame cleaning up for guests, rather than tennis 3 days in a row), and have some pain with walking. I took a short walk after work with Mr. PiN, and skipped yoga. 22 minutes.
  • Wednesday: My muscle pull is definitely not better. No exercise.
  • Thursday: Feeling slightly better after treating with a heating pad, but still not good. Still no exercise.
  • Friday: Slowly improving, but definitely not up to exercise. None today.

Total: 22 minutes walking, 122 minutes of tennis, no yoga or strength training, lots of lying around thinking to myself “what did you do?” A total of 144 minutes, definitely not my goal, but I was totally on the injured list.
