Fitness Log #159 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. Rather than making the middle-of-the-night phone call from the hospital, I received one. Not so great.
  2. Drove (rather than rode) in a funeral procession.
  3. Met my husband’s ex. We were both very well-behaved.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I walked to the library to pick out some books, going a different route from usual. Everything looked new, it made me feel like I lived in a city I might visit in my travels. 45 minutes for the round trip (not counting time spent browsing).
  • Sunday:  It was a lazy day, with no exercise.
  • Monday: I went out to pick up something from my Buy Nothing group, and then kept walking. 45 minutes.
  • Tuesday: Worn out by work, no exercise today.
  • Wednesday: Took a walk back from the business district, admiring Halloween decor. 34 minutes.
  • Thursday: I needed some fresh air and alone time. I walked to and from the bakery, 62 minutes.
  • Friday: After work I did a yoga video, my first in many months. It was painful. 24 minutes.

Total: 186 minutes walking, 24 minutes of yoga, and no strength training, for a total of –conveniently enough–210 minutes. I met my time goal, but not my strength building goal. Given the week, I think I did very well.
