Fitness Log #179 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. Mr. PiN wanted to make some large donations from our donor advised fund. With his encouragement, we gave much more than I would have done on my own. I realized for the first time: knowing the money had actually already been given away (at the time of the DAF funding) made it easier for me to be generous.
  2. For the first time since Omicron came around (and maybe Delta), we sat down with friends, at their dining room table–indoors!, windows closed!–and had a lovely meal. We hadn’t seen them for months, because they were worried about bringing COVID back to my friend’s ailing mother. It was great to be able to get together, and share memories.

I hear March is supposed to leave like this character. Does this mean with baa-ing, and some slimy stuff on the grass?

Fitness Log

For the first few months of 2022, the goal is to do my PT exercises 3 times a week, and get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I was feeling lazy today, and the weather wasn’t great. No exercise.
  • Sunday:  On-call and bad weather equals no exercise today either.
  • Monday: Between call and the switch to daylight savings, I felt hideous. Workout with my trainer was postponed.
  • Tuesday: Nothing today either.
  • Wednesday: Finally, I felt a little better. I walked to a Buy Nothing neighbor’s house to drop off a gift; it was a 15 minute trip round trip. I had my rescheduled workout in the early evening (30 minutes).
  • Thursday: With the time change, I decided I could walk part-way home from work. 23 minutes.
  • Friday: A different friend had an obligation in my neighborhood, and we stepped out for a walk after my clinic was done. I didn’t time our walk, but based on prior walks, I will say it was 30 minutes.

Total: 68 minutes walking, 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 98 minutes. No PT either; I can’t tell if this is making any difference, but maybe I should restart next week.
