Fitness Log #182 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I was surprised to see a number of visitors to the blog, referred by a newletter (thanks, WCI!).

I have to get in shape to visit places like this!

Fitness Log

For the first few months of 2022, the goal is to do my PT exercises 3 times a week, and get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  Walked for 30 minutes, I was pretty tired.
  • Sunday:  I haven’t been doing PT, but my hip was feeling better, so I thought maybe it was OK. Nope, it was just that I hadn’t been going for walks.
  • Monday: No exercise today, I had a late afternoon presentation from my student that lasted way too long.
  • Tuesday: No exercise today either.
  • Wednesday: I was definitely not well today. Not so ill I couldn’t go to work, but definitely not well enough to exercise.
  • Thursday: Felt better today, but I think I just gave up on exercising. I enjoyed a pleasant evening at home, though.
  • Friday: Worked until 8 PM (with a gap for dinner). No exercise today either.

Total: 30 minutes walking, which seems pretty sad, until I look at weeks where I got none at all. At this point, I think I have given up on winter (indoors) exercise, and am just holding out for better spring and summer conditions.
