Fitness Log #250, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness, And Monthly Goals

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. We ordered take out twice this week. Once was on purpose, a treat. The other was out of desperation, as one spouse got hangry when the other got delayed coming home.

Some Fabulousness

  1. I found out there is a new yarn store in town, not very far from where I live. I checked it out, and got help with my dropped stitches. I might actually finish that scarf before we get frost. (Unfortunately, I promptly dropped more stitches while knitting during an extremely boring meeting.)
A trio of young ladies in a field, one giving money to a young girl. They are accompanied by a little dog, who is staring down 2 cows.
My walks haven’t been quite so rustic.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  A morning walk with Mr. PiN, 35 minutes.
  • Sunday:  Another morning walk, this time back from the bakery (I hitched a ride there). 34 minutes
  • Monday: An evening workout with my trainer, 30 minutes.
  • Tuesday: A walk to the pick up point, 20 minutes.
  • Wednesday: A tennis lesson, in which I learn that playing with Mr. PiN on the weekend makes a big improvement in my game (highlighted today by the lack of practice this week). 60 minutes of poor, but active, play.
  • Thursday: A colleague gave me a lift home today, and I decided to spend the rest of the evening in the house. No exercise today.
  • Friday: A walk of uncertain duration (I accidentally turned off my stopwatch). Given my path and the lateness of the hour when I got home, I will estimate a walk of 40 minutes.

Total: 129 minutes walking, 60 minutes tennis, 30 minutes strength training; for a total of 219 minutes.

Monthly Round Up

  • Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Win on the hospital week. Miss on the first out of hospital week. And the second. A squeaking win for the last week of the 4. (Total: 2 out of 4 weeks successful.)
  • PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): Nothing, nada I keep this on here as a reminder and aspirational goal.
  • Clutter goals (declutter my office bookshelves, make room for a piano in the living room): I don’t know that I cleared much clutter this month. But Mr. PiN cleared a ton of clothes–I choose to believe I inspired him to do so.
  • Local Adventures. I had two: my visit to the local race, and my shopping trip and bookstore date with my husband was probably the only event to fit here.
    • MSKAP (2 study sessions per month with my friend, or read through one topic on my own): Nothing to see here. (My friend had to cancel our weekend study session twice.)
  • Social activity (one in-person activity per month). I can’t quite believe it’s true, but I seem to have missed out on this totally for the month. I’ll have to work on this going forward.

I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
