Fitness Log #399, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

The streets I prefer to walk for exercises have been dug up for 2 summers (maybe 3, I can’t keep track anymore). In the past month, the machinery and supplies have disappeared and many of the roads have been repaved. This week, for the first time in years, I finally was able to walk one of my old routes without dodging work areas. (mostly).

Fabulousness

I had a super social day on Saturday, with a live meeting of my Saturday friends in the morning, and meeting my Sunday friends at a local museum for the opening of another exhibit. These activities were all fabulous, as was having the second half of the afternoon to myself to recover.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

I’m feeling very successful, thank you.
  • Saturday:  My planned walk was canceled due to heavy clouds and a few rain drops. As it turned out, I could have taken the walk, as the downpour came in the evening. Oh well.
  • Sunday:  A morning walk through the newly paved neighborhood, 30 minutes.
  • Monday: It was storming, so no exercise outdoors. I didn’t get myself together to exercise indoors, either.
  • Tuesday: A walk to a further pick up point after work, 21 minutes..
  • Wednesday: A tennis lesson, 60 minutes.
  • Thursday: A walk to my usual pick up point, 18 minutes.
  • Friday: A walk after work; I extended it to make sure I hit my goal. 27 muggy summer minutes.

Total: 96 minutes of walking and 60 minutes of tennis for a total of 156 minutes. I did, indeed, meet my exercise goal.

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
