I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 8 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
Mr. PiN and I went to a new-to-us restaurant for our anniversary. The neighborhood was hopping! A big change for us, as when we first met, the area was, as one might say, insalubrious. I guess we have been married a long time.
In a first, my tennis co-student and I actually, finally met to play tennis on our own. The weather was finally perfect for this on a day we both were free. A fabulous first.
Fabulousness
Those Firsts were pretty fabulous.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?

- Saturday: We lost power on Friday, and I was not sure I would be able to work out with my trainer. Happily, the power returned last night, so I was able to use the internet. 30 minutes of exercise.
- Sunday: I met my co-student to play tennis. I have no real idea how long we played, as we had to wait for a court to open up and there was lots of gabbing each time we had to stop and collect our scattered tennis balls. I will estimate 30 minutes of “real” exercise time.
- Monday: My fellow tennis student and I met again to play. We misjudged the demand on a holiday Monday, and waited an hour to get a court; it was OK, as we enjoyed a good chat. I will estimate 40 minutes of actual play (exercise) time.
- Tuesday: A walk to my pick up point, 18 minutes.
- Wednesday: No tennis today, as the teacher is out of town and my co-student has an appointment. No other exercise either, which made for a grumpy day.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point, Mr. PiN went around the corner to come closer, as he came early. 16 minutes.
- Friday: I didn’t feel like doing much, but wanted to hit my goal. I found an exercise video for 20 minutes, and felt better for having done it.
Total: 34 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, 70 minutes of tennis and a 20 minute exercise video, for a total of 154 minutes of exercise. I just squeaked past my goal for a victory this week!
I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
