I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 8 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
I went to a tennis store and bought special tennis sneakers–they aren’t very like the shoes I have bought for years (though, strictly speaking, those are running shoes).
Fabulousness
Umm, it’s week 2 of the new computer system at work, and nothing feels fabulous right now.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?

- Saturday: I was busy with some social things, but did not exercise today.
- Sunday: Same story as Saturday.
- Monday: I worked out with my trainer today (after postponing our Saturday session), 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: A walk to my pick up point, 18 minutes.
- Wednesday: A tennis lesson with my new sneakers, 60 minutes.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point (plus a little bit more), 19 minutes.
- Friday: It was a gloomy day, a long week, and I was tired. I could have taken a walk, or done an exercise video, but I just wasn’t feeling it.
Total: 37 minutes of walking, 30 of strength training, and 60 minutes of tennis, for a total of 127 minutes of exercise. I did not meet my goal, mostly because I was too stubbornly grouchy to get another 23 minutes of exercise in. The good news is that I still did at least 2 hours of exercise.
I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
