I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- For more fun, I got to call 911 for someone outside the hospital. Luckily, they were fine; but they really needed an EKG, which I can’t do just by eye-balling them.
- I shared a hotel room with my brother. This is a first; we shared a bathroom for many years, from the time he was old enough to use one; and again when we were both visiting our parents. But I don’t recall ever sharing a bedroom with him (I have had to share previously with my sister; who totally hogged the bed when we went to Disney World 45 years ago, by the way.)
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I took the afternoon off, and walked to a supermarket and back. 40 minutes altogether (not counting time shopping).
- Sunday: An afternoon walk, 33 minutes.
- Monday: A walk to the grocery store and back. Also 33 minutes.
- Tuesday: This was a very busy day with lots of driving. No exercise.
- Wednesday: I took a long walk with my sister, exploring the neighborhood. I think the total was 63 minutes.
- Thursday: My sister and I walked to lunch and back, it wasn’t timed, but based on prior walks, I would guess about 30 minutes.
- Friday: A morning walk with my sister before she takes our mom to the hospital and I log on to do E-visits. 37 minutes. The air was lovely and fresh.
Total: 236 minutes. It hasn’t been the greatest few weeks, but being able to take a walk regularly has been very good for my mood.
