I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
I was not paying attention, so I have nothing to report here.
Fabulousness
I had several girlfriends over for tea and snacks. It was FABULOUS! Good company and a kick in the pants to clean up the house before hand.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I took a morning walk before it got warm. I didn’t enjoy myself quite as much as yesterday, but it was good to get going. 20 minutes.
- Sunday: No exercise today, except for running around, cleaning up the house.
- Monday: A work out with my trainer, the first for weeks. 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: A walk to my pick up point, again for the first time in weeks. My bad foot felt great. 20 minutes.
- Wednesday: My tennis lesson. I was feeling much better, but I am clearly not fully recovered, requiring a lot of rest breaks. I will say I exercised for 45 minutes out of the hour.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point. 20 minutes. Unfortunately, my foot is starting to bother me again. I realize, also, that I haven’t yet reached my weekly goal, and need to do some more exercise tomorrow if I want to meet it this week.
- Friday: I enjoyed a morning walk before work, 20 minutes. I had forgotten how much I used to enjoy this.
Total: 80 minutes walking, 30 minutes strength training, 45 minutes tennis, for a total of 155 minutes of exercise. I met my exercise goals for the first time in a month. Whew!
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Met only 1 of the 4 weeks. In my defense, I was pretty sick for about 2 weeks.
- PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): This is such a joke. I keep it on the list to torture myself.
- Clutter goals: Not really addressed, unless you count cleaning up the house for guests.
- Local Adventures. Mr. PiN took me to a new restaurant (it doesn’t sound super-exciting, but it was a real treat).
- CME. After finishing my videos, I took a break. I will likely make some new goals in preparation for my second set of boards this fall.
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month). I totally blew this out of the water this week with my friends. An absolute win.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
Glad you are feeling better and that you had fun with your friends! AND exercise! (although that probably has a lot to do with feeling better — it is very hard to exert yourself if you cannot breathe)
Thank you! Yes–not breathing definitely put a crimp in my desire to exercise.
