I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 6 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- My trainer and I have switched our workouts to Saturday mornings, and this week was our first. It’s a little different to have done my exercise earlier (I was a little sore all afternoon.)
- I visited a new branch of my credit union. It is much more convenient than the branch at work, which is never open when I want to go.
Fabulousness
Mr. PiN and I were invited to dinner with some of my college friends. It was very nice.
My work pick up point is outside of the public library. One evening, I met Mr. PiN indoors and we picked out DVDs to watch over the next few weeks.
I met my newly retired friend at the bakery one afternoon. We spent over an hour chatting and enjoying caffeinated beverages and treats.

Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: 30 minutes strength training.
- Sunday: I tried getting a ride to the bakery, since it was finally warmer, but couldn’t get there before it closed. I took a shorter walk home, 28 minutes.
- Monday: It was warm enough to walk to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
- Tuesday: The weather was much less pleasant, but Mr. PiN cajoled me into making the walk. 17 minutes.
- Wednesday: My tennis teacher had a doctor’s appointment, so no lesson this week. There was some walking about, but nothing measured.
- Thursday: Another walk from work to my pick up point. 17 minutes.
- Friday: I had a choice between walking after work or finishing my notes for the week before dinner time. I confess, I chose to finish the notes. No exercise.
Total: 79 minute walking and 30 minutes strength training, for a total of 109 minutes. I definitely did not meet my exercise goals, but it was good to resume walking (part way) home after work.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Achieved in only 1 of the 4 weeks. Though, I did get more exercise in compared to when I was sick.
- Clutter goals (clear journals and home office): No big achievements noted this month.
- Local Adventures (1-2 per month). Nothing much here either.
- Social activity (two in-person activities per month). A dinner with friends, a coffee shop chat with another, and inviting a friend over–that’s 3 social events in 1 month. Not bad.
- Attend services (1 per month). Attended twice by video.
- Explore my Curious List (try something new every quarter?): Not yet.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
