I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 6 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- Working in the yard for the first time in… a long time.
Fabulousness
I took a few days “off” (off in quotes, as I was still covering my electronic in-box), and was actually able to relax on the weekend.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?

- Saturday: My trainer forgot to log on for our lesson, and I was tired enough I didn’t call her. I swept and raked a winter’s worth of dead leaves off our front porch. By my timer, this took 67 minutes; listening to podcasts made the time move along quickly.
- Sunday: Walked in the early evening, 20 minutes.
- Monday: Walked in the morning since I didn’t have to go to work, 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: The weather turned cold and rainy, so I got a ride home (door to door).
- Wednesday: The weather was worse for walking. I started up a yoga video in the evening, then was interrupted by a phone call. I will count this as a no exercise day.
- Thursday: A walk part way home to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
- Friday: The weather was terrible, again, for walking. I finally made it through an entire yoga video, 30 minutes.
Total: 67 minutes of walking, 67 of yard (or outside) work, and 30 minutes of yoga, for a total of 164 minutes this week. I made my goal! (with the help of a video workout).
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): I met my goal in 2 hospital weeks and 1 non-hospital week. The hybrid week (1 hospital day only) I was in-between goals. I may count that as a miss, for a total of 3/4 weeks meeting my goal.
- Clutter goals (clear journals and home office): Nothing to see here.
- Local Adventures (1-2 per month). Attending the annual local food festival and shopping for carpet might fall here, though I’m not quite sure about the latter.
- Social activity (two in-person activities per month). My retired friend and I spent a lot of time together this month: she stayed over when her house was without power, came carpet shopping, hosted me on her porch for a chat and met me at the bakery for another. Hopefully she isn’t tired of hanging out with me.
- Attend services (1 per month). This was planned (attending by video on an evening I was going to be home alone), but was forestalled when Mr. PiN changed his plans at the last moment.
- Explore my Curious List (try something new every quarter?): During a hospital month? Not even.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
