I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I saw a friend’s new (to them) house for the first time. Just 5 years after they moved in…
- I succumbed to Door Dash even more, moving from take out dinners to purchasing some late holiday presents. I had them delivered on a cold day when I didn’t have the car.
- For the first time, I started sorting through my ginormous pile of old greeting cards.
Fabulousness
Going to my friends’ house for a dinner party. I wasn’t sure about going out in the cold and the dark, but Mr. PiN and I had a nice time, saw some people we hadn’t seen for a while, as well as some closer friends we see more often. And, Mr. PiN didn’t have to cook dinner. Fabulous.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?

- Saturday: A workout with my trainer, the first of the year. 30 minutes.
- Sunday: A super lazy day, no exercise.
- Monday: The weather warmed up enough for me to take a walk, though some of the sidewalks were iffy. 20 minutes.
- Tuesday: A walk from work to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
- Wednesday: Tennis lesson, 60 minutes. I was sweating.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point after work, 17 minutes.
- Friday: It was an unseasonably warm day today, and I snuck out for a short walk after work. 20 minutes.
Total: 74 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 60 minutes of tennis, for a total of 164 minutes of exercise. I met my goal!
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Met in 4/4 weeks.
- Clutter goals:My friend and I went to Goodwill, and I off-loaded about half of my donation pile. Most of the rest of the donation pile was given away via my local Buy Nothing group. And this week I was willing to let go of a bag of greeting cards and notes.
- Local Adventures. I am not sure if returning to see an museum exhibit for the second time counts. I will say it does.
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month and attending services once). A short visit with my brother, an in-person meeting with my Saturday friends, tea with my Sunday friends, a dinner party, and hosting my sister-in-law for several days. I think I have done pretty well here on the social side. Though no religious services were attended.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.

You are crushing your goals. Good for you. My fabulous news this week is winning $1000 in a raffle for our local philharmonic choir. This is the second time in three years that I have won one of their grand prizes.
Your news is absolutely fabulous!
