Fitness Log #83 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

During this pandemic, though, things change so rapidly, I want to acknowledge some of the ways we are coping with it. I am keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friday Firsts

This week had a number of firsts:

  1. This was my first week of seeing patients in the office for a whole day. Like before the pandemic started. It was a little strange.
  2. I went shopping on the Internet (not a first) for cloth face masks (definitely a first!).
  3. I started listening to a podcast on decluttering. (Odd, but strangely satisfying. It’s A Slob Comes Clean, if anyone is interested.)

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.

Not sure how this relates to my week, I just think that it’s pretty.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I really did pull something on my side, and thought I might skip exercise. But some friends had arranged an extra Zoom yoga class, which I did (with a few modifications). 80 minutes of yoga, followed by a long time on the heating pad.
  • Sunday:  Still feeling whatever I did in my flank, but the weather was good and I went out for my first walk in nearly a week. 28 minutes.
  • Monday:  My first day back in the office for a “regular” day. No exercise today.
  • Tuesday:  A work from home day. I took a walk during my lunch break (22 minutes), and then joined my Zoom yoga class after work (80 minutes).
  • Wednesday: My side is still bothering me, so long walks aren’t too appealing. I took a 20 minute walk at lunch time, and repeated the route in the afternoon. I was apparently a little bit slower, as the second time around it took me 21 minutes. 41 minutes overall. Also, after a long gap, I contacted my trainer about remote training sessions.
  • Thursday: Another day working in the office. It was actually draining. I left early but wrote my notes at home. No exercise for me today.
  • Friday: Another work from home day, with a lunch time walk. 20 minutes.

Total: 111 minutes walking and 160 minutes yoga, which I will count as weight training. I think this was definitely a successful week. Though I am excited to return to weight training proper, rather than only doing yoga. I find I use my muscles differently with each activity.
