Fitness Log #95 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

During this pandemic, though, things change so rapidly, I want to acknowledge some of the ways we are coping with it. I am keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I picked two, not-quite-ripe tomatoes from our new garden. We haven’t successfully grown tomatoes since we moved.
  2. My orchid, which was a present from my husband 3 years ago, did not die over the years (a first), and actually is putting out new flowers (the other first). So exciting!

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.

Last week I just barely met my goal and felt a little let down. I decided to try to beat my goal by a bit more this week. We will see if I end up increasing my exercise goals at the end of the month.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  For all my lofty goals, I did not get any exercise today (I was planning to take a walk, but then the weather turned inhospitable).
  • Sunday:  I got a ride to a far point (the bakery) and walked home. 34 minutes.
  • Monday:  Out for a walk after work, 37 minutes.
  • Tuesday:  Zoom yoga after work, 80 minutes.
  • Wednesday: A super long walk today, I decided to see if all my books were gone from the Little Free Libraries I had planted them in. They were gone from 3 of the 4 LFLs. 86 minutes walking.
  • Thursday: I walked part-way home from work; I don’t wear my Fitbit to work anymore, so I timed the walk at 15 minutes. I totally didn’t feel like working out further, so it is a good thing I had an appointment with my trainer; I worked out for 30 minutes more with her. Totally pooped this evening, but feeling good about getting more exercise this week.
  • Friday: After a somewhat frustrating day of telemedicine, I hitched a ride from Mr. PiN and walked home. 38 minutes.

Total: 210 minutes walking, 30 minutes weight training and 80 minutes yoga, for a total of 320 minutes altogether. I was a little tired by the end of the week, but felt much better. I have one more week to get in a lot of exercise, before my work day gets super long again for my hospital stint.
