Fitness Log #109 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. A presidential election that took over 3 days to project a winner. We will see if anything changes by the time this post goes live. [Thankfully, it seems like this is over. Though I am still waiting on hearing it from the White House.]
  2. On an evening walk, Mr. PiN and I were able to identify Mars on our own. Then I pulled up a star finding app on my phone, and possibly identified Jupiter. Pretty exciting since we live in a city with plenty of light pollution.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise during a regular week. If I am working in the hospital, I will relax my goal to 90 minutes for the week. At least 60 minutes of my exercise in a normal week should help with strength training; right now, I count yoga as part of this category.

How did I do?

That’s a big turkey to boss around.
  • Saturday:  I got out of the hospital early enough to feel comfortable walking part-way home. 28 minutes walking.
  • Sunday:  A long day at work. Mr. PiN and I took a walk around the block after work. This wasn’t timed, I will call this a freebie. [I later had to count it to make my goal.]
  • Monday:  A walk around the block after work, then I went through my strength training routine. 25 minutes.
  • Tuesday:  I was able to leave work before dark, and I walked partway home. 29 minutes. On returning home, Mr. PiN walked around the block tonight and looked for the planets we had seen in prior evenings.
  • Wednesday: It was dark and I didn’t feel well when I came home from work. No exercise.
  • Thursday: I considered doing my strength training workout tonight, but just didn’t have the heart for it. I lay on the sofa instead and worked after dinner.
  • Friday: Home late, took a quick walk around the block. I was this close to making my goal, so I timed the walk: 4 minutes. If I count Sunday and Monday, then this evening walk really got me 12 minutes over the week (I’m really reaching, here).

Total: 69 minutes walking, 25 minutes weight training and no yoga this week, for a total of 94 minutes. A real squeaker, but I made it!
