Fitness Log #112 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts, unfortunately, most of them weren’t great:

  1. Two days after Thanksgiving, I received an alert that someone had applied for a credit card in my name. Since that wasn’t me, this meant fraud. Happily, I was pointed to the federal site, IdentityTheft.gov, which walked me through the steps I needed to take.
  2. My office mate returned from Thanksgiving vacation. Despite the rising numbers of cases and the call from various authorities to limit or put off travel, she did, in fact, travel out of state to visit family. Our office is small, with probably not the greatest air flow. A few days after her return, one of the family members she visited had a fever (and eventually tested positive for COVID).
  3. In the hospital, we non-COVID units started getting COVID patients who were “recovered” and presumed non-infectious. No one, including nurses, was entirely sure what this meant as far as isolation and safety.
My week at work. How was yours?

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise during a regular week. If I am working in the hospital, I will relax my goal to 90 minutes for the week. At least 60 minutes of my exercise in a normal week should help with strength training; right now, I count yoga as part of this category.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I was able to come home early from work, but was too tired to do much of anything. Basically, I was on the sofa, checking into work from home. No exercise. I figured I’d do something tomorrow.
  • Sunday:  Tomorrow came, and I spent most of it at the hospital. No exercise today either. This is not going so well.
  • Monday:  I thought today would be a good day at work; boy howdy was I wrong. I was never so glad to get home, and lie on the sofa watching a show with Mr. PiN.
  • Tuesday:  A better day today, home at a reasonable hour (though with plenty of work to do still: that’s “pajama time” work). Nevertheless, I decided to work out in the basement while listening to a podcast. It was great. 30 minutes.
  • Wednesday: This was an even better day at work, and I got to come home at a reasonable hour without work to do. It was too dark to go walk outside, so I tried a video from one of the queens of pandemic YouTube exercise videos. A 1-mile “walk” with Leslie Sansone. (15 minutes).
  • Thursday: There was a whole lot of no exercise today.
  • Friday: I came home a little earlier, and did another 15 minute walking video. It was interesting.

Total: 30 minutes walking (walking video), 30 minutes weight training and no yoga this week. The total was only 60 minutes, below my 90 minute goal. We will see if I do better next week. I hope so.
