Fitness Log #116 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I took advantage of the Chase Sapphire Reserve offer for credit with Door Dash. That turned into lunch for my residents and myself on a holiday Saturday at the hospital.
  2. I called a store to see if they were open for in-person shopping. (I haven’t been out much, recently.)
The weather wasn’t conducive to much outside exercise; sadly, the views weren’t quite as nice.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise during a regular week. If I am working in the hospital, I will relax my goal to 90 minutes for the week. At least 60 minutes of my exercise in a normal week should help with strength training; right now, I count yoga as part of this category.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  The free food made a tasty lunch, but then sat in my stomach like a lead bomb for the rest of the afternoon, torpedoing my plans for exercise.
  • Sunday:  In theory, I could have exercised after work today, but I was too busy getting ready for my time off. No exercise today either.
  • Monday:  My first day off in quite some time. I was tired, and lazy, but by late afternoon I was thinking about exercise. It had warmed up enough to make a walk outdoors seem reasonable. My first walk outside in over 2 weeks was… challenging, but I did it, huffing and puffing most of the way. 23 minutes. Later in the afternoon, I did a yoga video: 29 minutes.
  • Tuesday:  Got a ride to the local shopping area, ran a few errands (masked) and walked home. 28 minutes. Zoom yoga this afternoon was much better than last week’s class. 80 minutes here.
  • Wednesday: A short walk outside. 21 minutes.
  • Thursday: A training session before lunch today got me moving. 30 minutes.
  • Friday: Lounged all day, but roped Mr. PiN into doing a yoga video with me in the afternoon. 27 minutes.

Total: 72 minutes walking, 30 minutes weight training and 136 minutes yoga this week, for 238 minutes total. Some of those minutes were uncomfortable, but I did them. I definitely prefer these weeks when I hit or surpass my goal of 210 minutes.
