Fitness Log #127 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 2 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I had to stretch on this one, but I did have a talk with one of my many bosses about cutting back on my hospital work. They actually did not put the kibosh on that plan (though they wouldn’t guarantee it would happen, either).
  2. Actually, I do have another first: for a few days, I was at the top of my group in Duolingo. I had visions of finishing the week at #1!! Unfortunately, someone with insane stamina pulled ahead to smoke me on the last day.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 90 minutes a week of moderate exercise if I am working in the hospital, which is what I am doing now. During a regular week my goal is higher, 210 minutes.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I was able to get out for a walk after work, 36 minutes.
  • Sunday:  I had to drop off some food to a neighbor, who is arranging delivery for a friend with a very ill spouse. I walked home from her house, the walk was a quick 11 minutes.
  • Monday:  I got out of the hospital relatively early, and it was still light out. However, my foot was super stiff, so I did not work out when I got home.
  • Tuesday:  I stayed late (no Zoom yoga class), and came home to the sofa and a good DVD.
  • Wednesday: I was able to take a walk after work, 31 minutes.
  • Thursday: No weight training after work. I felt a little stiff, and did a gentle yoga video instead. 30 minutes.
  • Friday: No exercise after work today.

Total: 78 minutes walking, no weight training, and 30 minutes of yoga this week, for a total of 108 minutes of exercise. It wasn’t as much as the week before, but it still felt good to meet my (lower) goal.
