Fitness Log #155 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 2 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I had one of the first Honeycrisps of the season. It was so good! I don’t know where Mr. PiN had been shopping, but the apples from earlier in the month were definitely not as awesome (were they end of the season from the Southern Hemisphere?).
A blue pitcher, a bowl of apples, a glass of wine
Apples and wine. Yum.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  Walked with a friend in a section of the local park I haven’t seen since the pandemic started. It was a lot of fun. 56 minutes.
  • Sunday:  Walked back from the bakery in crisp autumn weather. 31 minutes.
  • Monday: Remote session with my trainer, 30 minutes.
  • Tuesday: No exercise today.
  • Wednesday: It was a beautiful day, I spent some time on the tennis courts with Mr. PiN (36 minutes), and then took a walk in the evening for 31 minutes. I was so grateful to be outside.
  • Thursday: It was a long day of work, and though I came home early, I spent it lying under a blanket, roaming the Internet. That was all my exercise for the day.
  • Friday: A long cranky-making day of work. I took a walk before dealing with the mountain of notes, and my mood definitely improved (if I hadn’t had a sore hip, and so much work, I would have gone longer). 42 minutes.

Total: 160 minutes walking, 36 minutes of tennis, no yoga, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 226 minutes. I did well getting my time in, though I need to think about the strength aspect of my routines.
