Fitness Log #215 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. For the first time in many months (not a true first), I did MKSAP with my friend in a video call.
  2. I returned home to my parents to celebrate Thanksgiving with my siblings and their children. I saw my sister in person for the first time since the pandemic.
  3. While out with my sister on Thanksgiving day, we explored a neighborhood that was right behind the back yards of neighbors we used to play with. We couldn’t believe that neither of us had ever crossed the yards to walk around or explore this whole other area (quiet streets with circles and dead ends! Perfect for young kids).

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

A woman holding a feed bowl above her head faces a turkey, who is staring at the food.
I suspect keeping the food bowl away from that turkey counts as plenty of exercise.
  • Saturday:  A stay indoors day, enjoying central heating and working on the computer. No exercise.
  • Sunday:  More of the same. Mr. PiN reminded me about doing a yoga video, but that just didn’t happen.
  • Monday: A work out with my trainer. 30 minutes.
  • Tuesday: Working late to clear the decks (so my partner doesn’t have to deal with what I have left behind). No exercise for me.
  • Wednesday: A road trip. No real exercise, except at pit stops.
  • Thursday: A walk with my sister in the afternoon. We ran into another adult child returning home, who had found an escaped dog. After talking to some newer neighbors, we returned him to his home and walked around that neighborhood. I have no idea how long we were out walking.
  • Friday: With one thing and another, there was no exercise today either.

Total: 30 minutes of strength training, and an untimed walk. I am pretty sure I didn’t get 150 minutes of exercise this week.
