Fitness Log #218 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I really browsed in a bookstore for the first time since the pandemic. And I got help from a bookseller. Bliss.
  2. I started using artwork for the blog from The Cleveland Museum of Art. The Open Access system is awesome.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  After a slight lift up the hill from Mr. PiN and our car, I walked to and from the bookstore. All the books I purchased were very heavy by the end of my walk. 35 minutes.
  • Sunday:  With one thing and another, I never got out for a walk. And by the time I was considering an indoor workout, it was time for dinner. No exercise today.
  • Monday: A walk part-way home from work took 18 minutes. And a 30 minute workout with my trainer.
  • Tuesday: No exercise today.
  • Wednesday: Dropped off a present and walked home, 25 minutes.
  • Thursday: No exercise today.
  • Friday: Had to take a last-minute flight. I am pretty sure I walked plenty, through several airports, but I have no idea how long or how far (this is where the Fitbit data used to be so interesting).

Total: 78+ minutes walking, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 108 (counted) minutes. I am not sure I would have met my goal had I been able to stay home, but a 42 minute walk (or a shorter walk + yoga video) would not have been out of the question. I think I am/was getting back into better habits.
