Fitness Log #242 And Monthly Goals

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do during this hospital week?

  • Saturday:  A walk in the evening after my notes were done, 30 minutes.
  • Sunday:  An evening walk, 29 minutes.
  • Monday: A walk to the pick up point, 20 minutes.
  • Tuesday: No exercise today due to work obligations.
  • Wednesday: Today was too crazy a day to walk part way home. I worked until I caught my ride, and then worked more from home. Days like this are why my exercise goal drops during hospital weeks.
  • Thursday: A walk part way home, 20 minutes.
  • Friday: I stayed late at work, trying to clear my outpatient inbox of urgent issues before the weekend.

Total: 99 minutes of walking without any other types of exercise (no tennis, no strength training). I felt it was a pretty sad week, but I did meet my reduced goals for a hospital week.

I needed something conventionally pretty to get me through the Monthly Round Up below.

Monthly Round Up

  • Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): I was all over the place here, with a vacation week, a hospital week, and 2 “normal” weeks (one successful, one not). Overall, I met my goals 3 of the 4 weeks, falling short in a week with very bad air quality, which limited my outdoor time.
  • PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): Failed.
  • Clutter goals (declutter my office bookshelves, make room for a piano in the living room): The bookshelves remained clear, with all my items still in a few boxes on the floors. The piano corner remained untouched.
  • Local Adventures: Nothing.
  • MSKAP (2 study sessions per month with my friend, or read through one topic on my own): A bust, as my friend stood me up for one session, and then I started work in the hospital
  • Social activity (one in-person activity per month). Went to a local museum with my friend B, and enjoyed an exhibit and then the grounds.

I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
