Fitness Log #251 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. Mr. PiN and I had a little local adventure. We drove to a new(er) tennis and pickleball complex, and played tennis for a short bit until a sudden rain shower appeared. Then we walked around the area, and generally enjoyed being out of our usual habitat.
  2. We took another local adventure for my birthday, seeing an exhibit at our local science center. It’s on the other side of town, in an area I almost never go to, so just going and coming back was a little exciting too.

Not my birthday present.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  After last week’s debacle of a tennis lesson, Mr. PiN and I went out to play too close to noon. We managed 30 minutes of play time before packing it in to go home.
  • Sunday:  A walk home from the bakery, after depositing a few books in the nearby Little Free Library. 30 minutes.
  • Monday: A walk to my pick up point, 20 minutes. I had to attend a doctor’s appointment of my own, and didn’t feel great afterwards. I postponed my work out with my trainer.
  • Tuesday: A walk to my pick up point, 20 minutes.
  • Wednesday: Our first local adventure of the week: 20 minutes of tennis today with Mr. PiN, and then a 20 minute walk exploring the area around the new-to-us courts.
  • Thursday: I was tired today, no exercise.
  • Friday: I took the afternoon off and went out with Mr. PiN for local adventure #2. On the way home, he dropped me off in my usual walking area, and I took a meandering path back. A 21 minute walk.

Total: 111 minutes of walking and 50 minutes of tennis, for a total of 161 minutes. I made my goal even without a lesson or training session to keep me in line.
