Fitness Log #252 And Friday Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Fabulousness

During the weekend, there was plenty of activity in the area where I get picked up from work. I got to enjoy people watching, and some middle-aged (probably my-aged!) men playing their own songs on a lawn for the public. It reminded me that there are some very nice aspects to living in a city.

A picture of many people (adults, children) of the 19th century enjoying a park with a pond or river off to the left. Many woman carry an umbrella for shade. A dog and a pet monkey stand in the grass in the foreground.
Fabulous city living from the 19th century.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do during this hospital week?

  • Saturday:  A long day today, no exercise.
  • Sunday:  A walk part way back from work, to my pick up point. 20 minutes.
  • Monday: A walk after work to my pick up point. 20 minutes.
  • Tuesday: Once again, I took a 20 minute walk from work to my pick up point.
  • Wednesday: I walked to a slightly farther pick up point, but I no longer time my walk. I will still call this 20 minutes.
  • Thursday: A walk part way home from work, 20 minutes.
  • Friday: I figured I had reached my 90 minute goal for the week. So that when my work ran long today, I had no shame in asking for a pick up at the hospital itself (no walking).

Total: 100 minutes walking, which got me to (and a little past) my goal for the week. Clearly, incorporating a walk into my commute was the key driver for reaching my goal.

    1. Thank you, sometimes the quest for alliteration leads us to unexpected places. I hope you have a fabulous weekend as well!
