I read many blog posts each day. They mostly focus on personal finance, but also on minimalism and travel . Here are some of my favorite posts I read in August.
After listing a great number of posts for June and July, I was starting to wonder how much time I spend reading FIRE blogs. Vader on Fire put the question better than I can, with his post Confessions of a FIRE Nerd.
Having established that I spend too much time on the computer, even if it is to read entertaining blogs, here are some more of my favorite posts from August. It’s a shorter list this month.
Michelle at Boomer Eco Crusader has been working with her daughter to clear out her childhood bedroom, so her daughter can take her truly treasured possessions with her as she emigrates to Australia. As one might imagine, most of the items that have been in that room for years don’t make the cut, leaving Michelle to write about The joy of gift giving without the burden of clutter. I think what I really need is a printout of the illustration at the beginning of her post.
Speaking of clutter, I particularly appreciated this article from Kiplinger, with a list of 10 ‘Treasures’ Your Adult Children Don’t Want You to Pass Down. Although, to be fair, I actually do want some of those items from my family home, maybe. (Dibs on the special china!)
ESI Money has been celebrating 10 years of retirement with several posts of top 10s. I particularly liked 10 Daily Habits that Make Retirement Great. Part 1 and part 2. These are all things I already know (or at least have read about), but they are likely useful to refer to once I actually take the plunge.
It appears I didn’t feature any articles strictly about money. Do you have any favorite posts from August, money-focused or not?

I loved that Kiplinger article. I’m happy to say I’ve already decluttered many of those things, or never owned them in the first place. I fought my mother-in-law on picking out a china pattern when we got married. It was one wedding-related battle that I won.
Dealing with my old photo albums from before my kids were born are on my winter project list for this year. My girls love our family scrapbooks but have no interest in those old albums full of people they don’t know. I’m sure there will be a blog post coming on that topic when I get to that task. 😂
