I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
I saw Paris with my husband, our first trip together. He took me to see Luxembourg Gardens, which I don’t remember ever visiting.
Fabulousness
Did I mention we were in Paris?
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?

- Saturday: Today was a tourist day, walking all over Paris. I have no idea how much I walked, I will just say “plenty.”
- Sunday: Today was our flight home, which meant many hours seated in the plane. However, we walked more than I would have expected trying to find our gate in the Paris airport (which is huge!). Also there was plenty of walking on our return home, as we tried to find our car in the parking lot.
- Monday: I had a dental appointment and walked quite a ways to the bus stop to get home, 16 minutes.
- Tuesday: A walk to my usual pick up point after work, 18 minutes.
- Wednesday: No tennis lesson today as my teacher is out of town, and my co-student wasn’t up to playing. I ended up skipping out on other exercise as well.
- Thursday: A walk to my usual pick up point, 18 minutes.
- Friday: I had some nerves today, and took a 20 minute walk before my morning patients, and another after my afternoon patients. 40 minutes altogether.
Total: I counted 92 minutes of walking, but I am sure I exceeded that on Saturday alone. I am going to say that I met (and exceeded) my exercise goal this week.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Goals met in 3 out of 4 weeks, though 2 of those 3 weeks were estimates.
- Clutter goals: Nothing really achieved here.
- Local Adventures. Not much adventuring done at home, but I had plenty of foreign adventures.
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month and/or attending services). I visited my friend and helped her garden; and spent a lot of time with my sister-in-law on vacation.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
