Fitness Log #389, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

Mr. Pin and I visited many towns in Southern California I had never seen before.

Also, we went to the symphony in San Francisco, another first.

Fabulousness

The road trip was fabulous!

Actually, attending my medical meetings was also great (I am not sure that meets fabulous levels, but it might).

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

I did not actually get to La Jolla, but the beaches on the coast were very nice.
  • Saturday:  Conference all day, just a little strolling in the evening to find dinner.
  • Sunday:  A walk in the morning before the last few lectures, then lots of walking as Mr. PiN and I explored Southern California.
  • Monday: A walk along Santa Barbara’s harbor and wharf, and then some tennis in the afternoon (about 1 hour).
  • Tuesday: Some walking to and from sights as we drove up the coast.
  • Wednesday: A walk down, and then up, a huge hill in Carmel by the Sea. I noted lots of Clint Eastwood inspired kitsch (he had been the mayor at one point).
  • Thursday: Walking to and from the convention center in San Francisco must count, I think. I later calculated this is 5 minutes each way, or 20 minutes for the 2 round trips I take each day.
  • Friday: 20 minutes walking to and from the convention center.

Total: Lots of walking to play tourist, and some tennis for an hour. I am not sure if I met my 150 minutes/2.5 hour goal–this was a low data week–but I think maybe I did. I will say I did.

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
