And now for something completely different….
Here are some posts that I read and liked from before the world changed.
Continue reading “Wednesday Woolgathering”I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.
During this pandemic, though, things change so rapidly, I want to acknowledge some of the ways we are coping with it. I am keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Continue reading “Fitness Log #77 And Friday Firsts”My mind is still tremendously distracted as I try to adapt to life in a pandemic. Instead of writing a full post for today, which would require a bit more concentration than I have right now, instead I would like to highlight a few pieces I found on line and have been referring to frequently.

Continue reading “Fitness Log #76 And Friday Firsts”I have been very anxious about the situation with COVID-19, and also Mr. PiN has some (badly timed) health issues, which have me worried too.
Last Wednesday, I read some advice: when feeling overwhelmed and uprooted, pick just one thing to do. This way you have a goal each day, and a good chance at accomplishing it.
Continue reading “One Hard Thing Each Day”Just because I am a doctor, and encourage patients every day to exercise, doesn’t mean that I don’t have my own issues with getting sufficient exercise. Long hours, tiring days, family obligations, illness: they are all stumbling blocks, no matter what your occupation.
I have been recording my exercise weekly, mostly to keep myself accountable for reaching my goal (sometimes this works, sometimes I miss). If anyone reads this, I hope they will take this as encouragement to keep going, acknowledgement that it isn’t always easy.
Continue reading “Fitness Log #75”I can’t say that I am reacting all that well to this COVID-19 pandemic.
I mean, I’m doing what I should: social distancing, getting some exercise, going to work. I call my family. I haven’t run screaming into the night.
On the other hand, I’m not feeling so great.

Continue reading “Fitness Log #74”Today was a day of several firsts. Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, everything is changing, quickly.
Continue reading “A Day Of Firsts”I started this series of posts at the end of October 2018. I had just cut back my hours from full time to 90%, and wanted to use my new free time wisely. Some of that time was to relax, but I also wanted to improve my fitness, make my home a more pleasant place to stay, and work on becoming a more well-rounded human being.
My last update was in January of this year, with a few wins, and a bunch of misses. I set new goals, many of which are not going to be possible to hit given the new recommendations around social distancing (#flattenthecurve).
I had planned to follow up at the end of May, but I would like to review my progress so far, and offer some course correction to my goals for the next few months.
